St. Margaret’s School is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP).
IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education that St. Margaret’s believes is important for its students.
About the Programme
The Middle Years Programme serves students in Grades 6 to 10, providing a dynamic framework for learning during these formative years. It emphasizes inquiry, interdisciplinary learning, and global-mindedness, encouraging students to think critically, make connections across subjects, and engage with real-world issues from multiple perspectives.
A holistic approach, supported by Social Emotional Learning through advisory and homeroom, nurtures intellectual curiosity, creativity, and compassion. Collaboration shapes the intentional design of interdisciplinary units aligned with the IB mission to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help create a more peaceful world and advances our guiding value of Humanity.
Within our close-knit community, strong relationships are fostered through advisory, community blocks, clubs, athletics, and affinity groups. Aligned with SMS’s commitment to academic excellence, leadership development, and global citizenship, the MYP builds the academic rigour and character needed for success in the Diploma Programme and beyond.
