SMS's After School Learning Programs cater to both SMS and non-SMS students from Kindergarten through Grade 6. Discover a range of engaging and educational opportunities designed to foster curiosity and skill development. Our offerings span STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), Arts, and Health and Wellness, featuring activities tailored to enrich both mind and body.
SPRING 2024
Join Craig Wilkinson after school to learn tennis! Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your skills, this program caters to players of all levels. Over the course of 8 weeks, expect a blend of skill-building, gameplay, and plenty of fun on the court.
Program Highlights:
- Ball throwing, catching, and coordination exercises to enhance hand-eye coordination and footwork.
- Introduction and practice of various tennis strokes and grips, starting with static drills and progressing to dynamic ball hitting.
- Engaging tennis-related games that reinforce lesson techniques.
We offer private, semi-private, and group lessons for Grades K to 12. Choose from lesson times on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Sundays. Register here.
Great stories need strong foundations! Join award-winning charity, Story Studio, to
learn the fundamentals of storytelling and writing while having fun! In 8 sessions filled with games and activities, participants will cover a range of topics, including finding your next great story idea, developing great characters and building suspense in your storytelling. Local authors/illustrators will visit and share the 'behind the scenes' of their books. All participants will receive a variety of storytelling tools and a bound book of their very own wild and wonderful writing!

Students in Grades 5-12 are invited to join Highland Pacific Golf's after-school program. Led by certified PGA of Canada professionals and tailored to all skill levels, the program guarantees personalized coaching. With a low student-to-instructor ratio of 6:1, participants receive focused guidance to enhance their technique and strategic grasp of the game.

Do you like to create things with your hands? Do you want to learn how to make
your own beaded jewelry? If so, this is the after-school program for you! Try your hand at wirework, beading embroidery, or simply make yourself a beautiful necklace or bracelet. Students can create their own beaded creations to keep or
give as a special gift. Everyone can also make some beaded jewelry to
contribute to a future fundraiser for SMS for a cause of their choice.

If you thought knitting was only for
grandmothers, think again! Knitting is a fun activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Everything starts with learning the basic knit and purl stitches and building other fundamental skills such as casting on and off. Participants will gain confidence through practice and build towards simple projects. Learning to knit is a calming, mindful practice as well as an
excellent outlet for creativity.
