Video Discussion

Let’s discuss accountability. Take a moment to sit with your family after watching this video to discuss what you took away from it. Here are some questions to prompt your discussion provided by the Head to Head program.

Question:

What did accountability mean to your Olympian mentor?

Discuss:

Accountability is an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility for one’s actions. Being honest, and making sure that every action you take is helping you move towards any goals that you are seriously committed to. Being able to trust your teammates, and knowing that they are doing the same (being honest with themselves and putting their best foot forward).

Question:

How did your Olympian make sure that they were staying accountable?

Discuss:

Having a simple question that you can ask yourself every time you’re faced with a decision. Example: will this decision move me closer to my goal?

Remember to keep your mental health in check too, sometimes going and hanging out with friends, or watching a movie will move you closer to your goal because you’ve been stressed all week from school and sport and you need a mental breather.

Question:

How can you help your teammates to stay accountable?

Discuss:

It’s important to help your teammates stay accountable by giving constructive feedback; if you have an idea that might help your teammate be better, phrase it nicely and share it with them!
