This week’s Faculty Friday may have started the year off on the wrong foot after suffering a severe concussion the first week of school; however, Grade 3 teacher Annie Maki has a passion for teaching and her students that can’t be denied, even a concussion couldn’t hold her back!

Same, same but different

What book do you give most as a gift?

The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson.

What other SMS staff member would you most want to be stuck on a deserted island with and why?

All the staff and students! Imagine the sunny adventures we would have together with the Foundations Years’ imagination, the Middle Years’ tenacity, the Senior Years’ spirit, and the staff’s skills. Incredible!

What is your favourite food & local restaurant?

Salad – it’s so crunchy and satisfying! Fishhook on Fort St. is my fave.

What is your secret talent or superpower?

Being a girl!

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Stamps because I love sending and receiving mail in the post.

What one piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

To take a big thing and break it down into small bite-size chunks, and to do a chunk each day. Small steps forward create your path.

What habit do you do every day that you feel is integral to the success of your day?

Walking outside in all kinds of weather.
