Colette Reimer named Athlete of the Week

Triathlete; philanthropist; award-winning student; 13-year-old.

Yep, you can safely say that Colette Reimer is all around a pretty inspiring girl. For her dedication to her sport while balancing the demands of school work and working to benefit those in need, Colette was named by CTV's Breakfast Television as their Athlete of the Week!

You might recognize Colette as our cover girl for the fall edition of our Spirit magazine. Colette was an obvious choice for this place of honour, and not just because she looks great in her red blazer. Pictured in the cover photo was her award-winning Science Fair invention, Cycle Clear, featuring adaptive lenses and miniature windshield wipers powered by solar panels. Colette says she was inspired by her passion for triathlon to create a product that would help riders in bad weather. The young athlete is currently preparing for high-profile races later this year and lives the school motto “Service with Love” in her individual pursuits: Colette was the top fundraiser for the Triathlon of Compassion in 2014.

Says Cathy Thornicroft, Head of School, "She really epitomizes St. Margaret's vision and Strategic Plan. Here is a girl who is driven to achieve, eager to challenge herself and yet is remarkably humble. Colette also shares her passion with others, from her science inventions, to finding ways to give back, to simply being a joy to be around."

Congratulations, Colette (and her family too): this recognition is well-deserved.

(p.s. you might also recognize the other student in this video, Eve Taylor, who has been a great new addition to our school community this year!)
