Ms. Walton is a Middle Years PE Teacher and spends time teaching the Kindergarten students each day. She also coordinates the After School Care program and plans all of our summer and break camps. She loves how everyday at SMS is so different, and especially loves the beautiful, natural school grounds for runs and games in PE and exploring the forested areas in the Outside While Learning (OWL) program with the kindergartens. SMS offers such a variety of sports and athletic teams that there is always something for everyone. With her background in Environmental Technology and passion for outdoor education, she is especially excited about the programs SMS offers to learn beyond the walls of the classroom with many opportunities for outdoor education and experiential learning in all grades. She has observed girls challenge themselves in a range of outdoor activities and adventures, build confidence, and develop a deeper appreciation for our natural environment. In addition, she has experience in graphic design and likes to incorporate opportunities to learn new software and technology in lessons and summer camps. She has been involved in the sport of triathlon for many years and is usually swimming, biking, or running when she’s not teaching. She is excited to help coach the SMS Triathlon Club and witness the girls' enthusiasm for this challenging sport.
Why SMS? "I feel very grateful to discover SMS in my neighbourhood and be a part of the school's welcoming community. SMS is a place to foster learning in such a range of environments and it is inspiring to see the girls embrace the challenges and opportunities the school offers."
