St. Margaret’s School offers need-based financial assistance for up to 50% of tuition fees.
Financial assistance is directly tied to the financial need of individual families. As a member of Financial Aid for Canadian Students (FACS), our school is able to have an external organization (Apple Financial Services) evaluate the financial need of individual families. This ensures the financial information you provide is held in complete confidence. FACS provides St. Margaret’s School with a recommendation, which our Bursary Committee uses to determine the level of financial assistance to award to an individual student.
Applications for financial assistance must be received by St. Margaret’s School by April 1st. We suggest you submit your application to Apple Financial by mid-March to ensure it is received by the School before this deadline.
New students applying to St. Margaret’s School after April 1st may submit applications for financial assistance when applying to the School.
Step 1: Apply to St. Margaret’s School
Step 2: Apply for Financial Assistance
Please read the FAQs about FACS carefully before you begin. You can then apply for financial assistance by completing a Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) with Apple Financial. This requires payment of a non-refundable application fee (CAD $100). You must file a new PFS each year you apply for financial assistance.
Step 3: Decision
Apple Financial will provide St. Margaret’s School with a recommended level of support for the student. St. Margaret’s School’s Bursary Committee will meet to review all applications. The Committee will review the requested amount as well as the recommendation from Apple Financial to determine an appropriate level of financial assistance for the student. St. Margaret's School will notify you of the award decision once all applications have been processed – typically mid-April.
The Multi-Sibling Bursary is offered through the generosity of an anonymous donor, in support of families who have made the choice to educate their daughters at St. Margaret’s School. The intent of these Bursaries is to help alleviate some of the financial pressure that can arise through the added expense of educating a second or even third daughter at St. Margaret’s. We understand that an independent education can be costly and we commend your choice to invest in your daughters. These Bursaries are meant to help offset the expense of multiple annual tuitions such that you are supported in your choice to have your daughters attend St. Margaret’s School and benefit from our unique educational experience. Please note in applying for this award that a separate application must also be made to Apple Financial (see "How to Apply for Financial Aid" above).
Thank you to the donors who make our bursaries possible. It is our dream that all deserving girls be able to access the unique learning environment offered at SMS.
