After School Care

Contacting Saint Margaret’s After School Care

Please call 250-812-5324 to request drop-in after school care for your daughter, or if you wish to leave a message for the After School Care staff. After 3pm, Intermediate After School Care may be contacted directly by dialing 250-888-6861.

The Primary and Intermediate After School Care Programmes are provided from 3:00pm - 5:30pm on school days at a drop in cost of $25 per day or on a monthly basis where the cost in determined based on need. The staff at each programme consists of a supervisor and an assistant, both with extensive experience in working with children. Special day camps are also offered during the year on Professional Development days, Parent-Teacher and Student-Led Interview days, at Christmas, Spring Break, and at year-end in June. The cost for day camps is $35 per day.

There is also an Early Childhood Education After School Care Programme for 3 and 4 year olds. Space is limited and pre-registration is required for ECE After School Care.

Primary After School Care

Kindergarten to Grade 3
During the year the girls are involved in a wide variety of craft activities both organized and self-directed. The School has a great collection of “beautiful junk” materials that have been gathered over the years and everyone is constantly inventing new and unusual ways of putting these materials to use. The girls are also encouraged to take responsibility in contributing to the development of the activities and to share their knowledge with the rest of the group. Someone always has a favourite project or game that they are excited about and eager to show the rest of the group. The girls also participate daily in outdoor games and activities on the playground.

The Primary After School Care Programme provides an environment that is comfortable, creative and pleasant, where everyone has the opportunity to develop valuable social and personal skills and, of course, have a whole lot of fun doing it!

You are welcome to drop by for a visit anytime after 3:00pm, on any School day. Primary After School Care is located in Junior School Multi-Purpose Room.

Intermediate After School Care

Grade 4 to Grade 6
The Intermediate After School Programme helps students work on their academic and social skills by extending classroom routines into after school activities.

After attendance is taken the girls head out to the playground or make their way over to the gym. Following a well deserved break, students settle into their homework or have a mandatory quiet time where they can read, work on math drills / crossword puzzles etc. The Intermediate After School Care supervisor is there to provide help for any homework questions or dilemmas.

Once students have finished their homework they can then work on the computer, design crafts, play board games or inventive games as well as enter into the world of imagination with fort building skills.

Intermediate After School Care is also located in the Junior School Multi-Purpose room.
