I have never written a blog before, but I’m looking forward to exploring this form of online communication with you.
First, a little about myself (for those who don’t know me): I have had the privilege of leading this dynamic organization for two years now. I have found it to be a busy and demanding role, but keep my heart and soul grounded in what matters most – life long learning.
I am also an explorer of ideas and am constantly seeking new ways of thinking and doing. I prefer leading with questions and being open to possibilities and I love that feeling of discovery when I realize that things are more alike than they are different.
I am intrigued by the study of ethics – as our knowledge base continues to grow and information can be shared both more easily and more quickly, people are being forced to make assumptions and decisions with less time and without having a full understanding of the information they have received. I believe the ability to look deeper and to make connections between ideas should be at the core of any academic endeavor.
I am passionate about St. Margaret’s and love the evolving stories I see around campus. The School is truly a place where the girls are empowered to influence the world around them. The way they share their talents with others – not just for personal recognition, but for the betterment of the community – and the joy they display at their accomplishments truly make coming to work fun.
I am told that people don’t read blogs simply to get information but rather are interested in the blogger’s opinions on the news, the world, life and more. The role of my blog will be to share stories, ideas and resources, and to provoke discussion. I hope you will share your own thoughts with me, or stop me when you see me to chat.
My goal is to post a message at least every other week. As I embark in this new mode of communication (at least new for me), I will be trying to learn how to “blog from the heart.” I am not an expert at much but I certainly have “dabbled” in a myriad of topics, particularly as they relate to education. I am hopeful my stories and thoughts will resonate with your experiences and interests; this is a journey that I hope we can take together.
Until next time, enjoy the great weather and embrace the excitement of a new school year!
