The Saint Margaret’s School motto is Servite in Caritate, meaning “Service with Love”. We endeavour to provide our students with opportunities to contribute to the school, local and world communities. In doing so, we create opportunities for the students to take on leadership roles as well as fundraising initiatives, and community service projects.
As part of learning to become a leader involves an ability to interact with others, the Senior School Outweek in September is the ideal time for students to build relationships with one another, expand their personal comfort zone and set personal and group goals of achievement. Both the Grade 7 and Grade 8 students travel to Strathcona Park Lodge. During the Outweek students will work together in activities related to environmental awareness, wilderness survival and outdoor pursuits. Jeanine Stannard, our Director of Athletics, addresses the components of the Grade 7 and Grade 8 Strathcona programmes in September.
Following up on the teambuilding foundations of Outweek, students are expected to display local citizenship and model a spirit of contributing towards and connecting with the school community through a variety of offerings, including clubs, Fine Arts Programmes and Athletic opportunities. Students are asked to fill in the option form located within the Course Guide in order to indicate which activities catch their interest. Students are required to join at least one Leadership Club and one Fine Arts/Athletics activity throughout the year.
